This session will help you get started on meal planning with a specific focus on adults and seniors. We will review the health benefits, the 4 P’s of healthy meal planning, how to meal plan, and what budget-friendly foods are great to stock at home. This talk will also focus on the specific nutrients: carbohydrates, fats, and proteins, and how they help you meet your nutrition needs through balanced meals. By the end of this talk, you will know what a healthy meal looks like and how to put it together!
Speaker Profile:
Kathy Tubongbanua has been a Registered Dietitian for 14 years. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Food Science from the University of Alberta.
Kathy has worked in the field of seniors care before working with Alberta Health Services as part of the Cultural Diversity Program for the Filipino population.
Kathy is also a Certified Diabetes Educator since 2015 and is the Director of Education for the Calgary Chapter of Diabetes Canada. Currently, she is a Chronic Disease Management Dietitian at Mosaic PCN. Her passion in nutrition is in the area of Diabetes, Renal health, and providing culturally sensitive resources to the community. In her spare time, she loves to go for walks with her family.
