The Calgary Korean Women’s Association (CKWA) is a non-profit organization founded in 2011. We are committed to supporting Korean-Canadian women in Alberta involved in all facets of society. We offer programs and opportunities for women to gain new knowledge, upgrade their skills, find new avenues to grow, learn to establish themselves as entrepreneurs, and to take care of their whole self.
Membership to our association is open to anyone who shares in our vision, mission, and guiding principles, regardless of age, gender and ethnicity.

Our Latest Project
Bridging Gaps: Supporting Seniors Through Healthy Aging, Engagement, & Safety
Under this project, we will be offering 30 sessions on various topics related to overall wellness for supporting our seniors in the community. The project aims to equip them with lasting healthy habits, knowledge, and skills to better take care of themselves.
Discussion topics are focused on information, resources, knowledge, and practice related to physical health, mental health, food and nutrition, physical activity, stress management, and how to organize and protect their interests.
The sessions will be offered from April 2022 to December 2022.
Recent Activities
Wellness Webinar Series: Promoting a Healthy Community Project 2021
With the support of the City of Calgary, CKWA offered the Wellness Webinar Series: Promoting a Healthy Community project from August 2021 to February 2022. The activities included 20 webinars on topics related to wellness for supporting the community in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic and equipping them with lasting healthy habits, knowledge, and skills to better take care of themselves and their families. Discussion topics were focused on overall well-being, such as physical activity, healthy eating, behavior modification, and stress management.
Speaker Highlight: Tara Adams
Tara Adams is the Founder of Abridge Consulting in Calgary. Abridge Consulting is based on a simple, but not easy, goal – to get more people, more help, sooner! With a strong background in learning and facilitation and a passion for workplace mental health, Tara spent several years as a Corporate Wellness Manager and championed workplace mental health and overall employee total health for 6,000 employees by building enterprise-wide strategies for mental, physical, emotional, and financial wellness. Speaker Highlight: Orsha Magyar
Meet Orsha Magyar, Founder of NeuroTrition Inc. Orsha is a health expert for Canadian publications, television and radio shows, and a sought-after consultant for books. Past Project
Act2EndRacism Project 2020
In collaboration with ACCT Foundation, Act2EndRacism project was undertaken with the support of the Canadian Red Cross. The project included a two-month webinar series “Coping with COVID-19 and its impact” from February 16 to March 19, 2021. Webinar topics were identified with an aim to equip our community with strategies to cope with the impact of COVID-19 and the rise of racism in society, particularly toward people of Asian descent.
